Boil is caused by bacterial infection, especially
staphylococcus bacteria. It can usually be found in the hair follicle. The
main factor that encourages the growth of this bacteria is toxic condition
in the blood stream.
Dead tissues and pus accumulated inside a boil making it a
red, warm and extremely painful dome shaped inflammation. Boils can always
be found on the face, underarms, back, buttocks, legs, and shoulders.
Sometimes, many boils can appear in the same area and group of boils is
called carbuncles.
Boil starts with itchy feeling. Then, the swelling begins
and you will notice a small and tender hump on the skin. It become larger
and red later and is painful when being touched. When a boil has ripen, it
will open and the pus will come out. Then, it will disappear.
When you have skin boils, remember not to pop them.
Popping might resulted in further infection as the inflamed area is contaminated.
You should instead take a regular warm bath for 2-3 times daily. This will
help the boil to open up and make sure it is clean. Once the boil has
opened, wash away the pus using warm salt water. A regular boil normally
takes about 7 to 10 days to recover.
